During our last unit each year, students chose a topic of interest to research and become our "Resident Expert" on. They then prepare a display board and presentation for their families and peers.

Vincent van Gogh impacted the world by relocating to Paris and was very influenced by impressionism he gained exposure to artist like Gauguin, Pissarro, Monet, and Bernard. As a result, he adopted brighter, more vibrant colors and began experimenting with his technique. Vincent Willem van Gogh was a post impressionist painter whose work, not able for its beauty, emotion and color, highly influenced 20th century art. He struggled with mental illness, and remained poor and virtually unknown throughout his life.

He used the mirror method, so nobody could copy his inventions. He invented the anemometer, crossbow, triple barrel cannon, self-propelled cart, parachutes, aerial screw, early flying machines, tennis racket, armored tank, submarine, combat machine gun, ball bearings, megalopolis of the future, mechanical knight, spingarde, Odometer, self-supporting bridge, mechanical drum, catapult, self centering drill, and tongs. He lived in the Renaissance Age. He was born on April 15, 1452. He died on May 2, 1519.

Color is the first element of art. There are cool colors-green, blue, and purple-and warm colors-orange, red, and yellow. The warm colors can make you hungry, mad or happy. Cool colors make you relaxed. We also learned about the color wheel. There are 3 primary colors-red, blue, and yellow- and 3 secondary colors-orange, purple, and green.-Cade
We are learning about shape witch is one of the seven elements of art. The definition of shape is the outline. the shape allows you to identify the object. There are two main types of shapes. Geometric shapes are square, circle, triangle, etc. Organic shapes are more complex, and usually have some curved sides. Today we played quick draw to learn how shapes are used to identify the object. The computer was very bad at guessing my rain she thought it was a leafy tree. Then we did our own shape art with geometric and organic shapes. -Tyler We have a new unit today and its about the history of art! Today the fourth graders went on a field trip to the Center for Earth and Space Science Education to learn about the planets in our solar system. We also got to experiment with how athletes train for different sports. It was a great day! |
