CHECK YOUR SOURCES: Make sure your websites are a valid source. For example, Wikipedia is not a valid source because anyone can edit it. Also, remember that ANYONE can make a website and not everything you read online is true.
ASK GOOD QUESTIONS: The key to finding good information is asking good questions! If you do not use a kid approved search engine, make sure you add "facts for kids" after your topic in your search engine.
Be PATIENT and READ: Remember that sometimes you have to look at several websites to gather multiple answers. This helps you verify that an answer is correct and helps you discover the answer to your question and ideas you have not even considered.
TAKE NOTES: As you read, make sure you take notes. Only write down notes that could be used to answer your research questions. Never copy a whole sentence down. Watch the video below on taking notes!
GIVE THE AUTHOR CREDIT: When using someone else's work as a resource, it is important to give that person credit for their thoughts. You cannot copy their sentence and change just a few words. You need to gather data and then create your own original ideas based of the data you have created.
