Today the fourth graders went on a field trip to the Center for Earth and Space Science Education to learn about the planets in our solar system. We also got to experiment with how athletes train for different sports. It was a great day! The catapult was first used in Greece by Dionysius around 400 BC. It was designed as a highly effective war weapon. There were two types of catapults, one that originated from the crossbow that shot arrows and one that was used to hurl stones. The students had one hour to design and engineer a working catapult of either type. They could only use the materials provided. Were the successful? Final Products... The testing of who created the most effective catapult... Today, we got to Skype with an Archaeologist who lives in Corinth, Greece! We cannot thank her enough for taking the time to teach us all about Corinth and Ancient Greece! It really gave us a deeper understanding of the things we are studying in our class! Mrs. Shaw: She was in the literacy lab after the crime happened. She noticed that the cabinet door where she kept her microphone in the literacy lab was open. Mrs. Shaw found a note about the missing microphone. Then she emailed A.F.I.S so that we could investigate.
