The major function of the large intestine is to absorb water from the remaining indigestible food. The large intestine is about 1.5 meters (five feet long) it's also shorter than the short intestine. The main function of the small intestine is absorption of nutrients and minerals from the food you eat. The small intestine is seven meters long in adults. (23 feet) That's 18 more feet than the large intestine. The esophagus' function is to carry foods, liquids, and saliva from the mouth to the stomach. The esophagus is 10 inches (23 centimeters) long. The mouth's function is to begin the digestive process when you take your first bite of food. The stomach's purpose is to break down and digest food. The function of the pancreas is to convert the food we eat into energy for your body to move. The throat receives the food from your mouth. The function of the liver is to take the toxins out of your blood, it also makes bile and protein. The gallbladder's function is to store and concentrate bile.
