The GT department took our fourth grade students on a field trip to the TJC Nursing School. While on the field trip, the students rotated through four rooms to learn about different parts of nursing. In the first room, the students were able to practice operating on a patient by either holding a camera inside of a dummy or use tools to try to play a game and move rings inside of the dummy. (They said Ryder was a natural!) In the next room, students learned about the medical lab and blood. In the next room (and by far most of the kid's favorite room), the children partnered with a TJC student and learned all about physical therapy. They got to experiment and practice using many different techniques used in physical therapy. They also learned about muscles and bones and how they move our body. In the final room, the students learned about ultrasound machines. They were able to take a look at the main arteries and veins in their necks and take a picture of them. They were also able to hear the blood as it was pumped through the blood vessels. It was an amazing field trip

The nervous system controls your body. It starts at the brain then extends to the medulla the medulla sends message through the spinal cord that is protected by the back bone. Nerves are all around your body. They're are 92,000 miles of nerves in our body. They're are 10,000,000,000 neurons in our body. A neuron is a nerve cell.
