Rembrandt was a man who painted people. He was born in the Netherlands on July 15, 1606. Eventually, people started not wanting to get themselves painted. So he thought,"What if I could paint myself?" So he started doing self portraits of himself using a mirror. You might think he would get bored of painting himself, and that's why he used different emotions and dressed up. He made hundreds of self portraits of himself. Other people started doing self portraits of themselves. He became famous all around the world for creating the self portraits.
