The three types of prints are Latent, Patent, and Impressed prints. Latent Prints: A fingerprint that is there but is not visible without further processing. EX: Fingerprints on windows and glass jars. Patent Prints/Visible Prints: Prints that are easily seen to the naked eye. EX: If someone stepped in ink or oil. Fingerprinting is when you lift a fingerprint. The study of fingerprints is called dactyloscopy. Everybody in the world has a unique fingerprint. Detectives use fingerprinting to identify criminals. There are three types of identification prints patent, latent, and impressed prints.
There are 8 types of fingerprints,Plain whorl,double loop whorl, accidental whorl, central pocket whorl, ulnar loop, radial loop, tented arch, plain arch. Fingerprints contain furrows, and ridges. A.F.I.S contains body markings, fingerprints, photographs, and more. Its purpose is to identify criminals and military personal.
