Last week, we learned that the Greeks raced chariots in the Ancient Olympic Games. So this week, we tried to engineer chariots with working wheels out of a small list of approved materials in one hour. Check out our final products!

For the past two weeks we have been learning about the Ancient Olympic Games. We learned that they started in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece. The games were in honor of Zeus, the king of the gods. The Olympics were a five day celebration. We also learned that there was an emperor named Theodosius I who didn't like the games so he got rid of them to spread Christianity around the world. With a partner, we researched the five days. Learn more by looking at our posters below! There are over 3,000 islands in Greece and only 227 of them are inhabited. The main cities are Athens, Delphi, Corinth, Sparta, Olympia and Knossus. The main islands are Rhodes, Crete, Corfu, Zante, Chios and Lesbros. The mountains are named Mt. Olympus and Mt. Parnassus. Greece is a peninsula.
Zaden, Emily and Grayson What we have learned...
We have learned about the Trojan horse and how it was used in the Trojan War. We also learned the the Greek Alphabet. We learned about Europe on the map and where Greece was in Europe. We learned some of the islands on the map. We learned how to write in Greek and some pottery from Greece. We learned the Greek alphabet symbols. - Bo, Christie, and Curtis . What is a marine biologist - A marine biologist is someone who studies ocean life. My ocean- My ocean is the Pacific ocean. The Pacific is the largest ocean in the world and Pacific means peaceful. How to protect oceans - You can protect the oceans by stopping pollution, stopping over boarding, and stop destroying their habitat. Animal Research - My animal was a humpback whale is the only whale with humps or lumps. They are almost extinct. Squid Dissection - We dissected a squid. It was gross, but fun. Favorite party - My favorite part was when I cut the ink sack. I still want to know why can squid propel. A marine biologist is someone who studies ocean life .
I studied the Pacific ocean. Here are somethings I learned, The Pacific ocean is 62.46 million miles long, it is 59.571 sq miles larger than the U.S.A. It was established in 1513.You can protect oceans by picking up trash in the ocean, not fishing so much, and watch were you build.I researched a Frilled Shark. Here are some things I learned: They are normally 2 meters long. They're near extinction. I made a 3D model of it. We dissected a squid. It was really unpleasant, but we still learned a lot from it. I learned that it has a 3 hearts. I also learned that it is the fastest swimming invertebrate. My favorite part of this unit was definitely dissecting squid. I still want to know who discovered the very first dolphin. By: Tyler Keen
