Today, we had a guest speaker come talk to use about starting our businesses. He was Kaydence's grandpa, and he has started several businesses. We created a fake business with him to sale gummy bears. He taught us how to make sure we make enough money, or profit, from our business. He also taught us: - You have to borrow money from the bank if you don't have it. That is called a loan. (Sam) - He taught us that you can do any business you want. (Kaydence) - He told us that all of the jobs we want to create are manufactures. (Zachary) - He taught us that you have to give the bank back more money than you borrowed. That is called interest. (James and Emily) - He told us that you have to convince people to buy the things that you made. That is called advertising. (Sophia and Emily) - People telling people about your business is word of mouth. It is a good way to advertise. (Sam and James) - You shouldn't quit your job because you still have to pay the money you owe. (Jackson) - You can't price your items too cheap or too high. (Paige) - You should be smart about what you sell and ask people what they like so that you can sell things people want or need. Don't waste your money on making everything. (Sophia) Thank you for coming to share with us about businesses!!!! ~ Mrs. Sanchez's First and Second Grade Class
