Today we learned how to Mystery Skype. The mystery landmark was Yellowstone National Park. We had to guess what state the person was in and then figure out what landmark they were at. Thomas, Logan, and Carter figured it out first. Here are some things we learned: - Yellowstone National Park goes through Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. (Ethan) - Yellowstone is on a volcano. (Cami) - It has about 300 geysers. (Logan) - You can see a lot of animals there. Yellowstone has bears, buffaloes, foxes, and wolves. (Vanessa and Tavian) - There are over three-million people who visit Yellowstone each year. (Gautam) - The exhibition in the 1872 found lots of geysers and hot springs. (Carter) - There are over 400 national parks in the United States. (Cami) - Yellowstone is the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. (Ethan) - There is a river named Yellowstone River and that is how the park got it's name. (Ethan and Logan) - It is a national landmark because the explorers wanted it to be protected for future visitors and tourists. (Thomas) - You can get a junior ranger badge if you visit there. (Cami) - It can snow there. (Vanessa) - The Yellowstone River starts at the Yellowstone Lake and flows to the Missouri River then to the Mississippi River then empties into the Gulf of Mexico. (Logan and Ethan) - You can predict when some of the geysers will shoot out. For example, with Old Faithful Iif the water is coming up, you have to time it. If it is less than one minute and 30 seconds, it will explode again in 60 minutes. If it is longer than one minute and 30 seconds, it will explode in about 90 minutes. (Gautam) Yellowstone National Park is one of the national landmarks in the United States. We are studying these landmarks. A landmark is a historical place or building. Please look at the pictures from our Mystery Skype. It was fun trying to guess where the landmark was! From, Mrs. Sanchez's GT Class |
