In class today we learned about the circulatory system. During that we learned all about the heart and how it functions. To culminate our learning on the circulatory system, we dissected a sheep heart. During the dissection, the children had to point out all of these things: where the fat is and why it is important, what is under the fat, the difference between how the fat looks and how the muscle looks, the four chambers of the heart, the Vena Cava, the Aorta, the chordae tendineae, and show the order in which blood enters and exits the heart. Could you point out all those things? Students also learned about heart attacks and where they happen, about the lungs and how they work with your heart to take oxygen throughout your body and take the carbon dioxide out of your body, and about the difference between veins and arteries. It was A LOT of information!!! They learned so many facts about the heart!
