The students were transported by a plane to an unknown archaeology site. They had to work in teams to uncover artifacts and use their background knowledge to conclude what civilization used or made the artifacts. We learned about coordinates and found our unknown location on the globe! Do you know where we are? Today we took our own bite prints. We learned that bite impressions are important because they can help identify a person. Here are some things we observed in our bite impressions:
The kids learned about the three types of prints.
We then went on a print hunt around the school to find patent and impressed prints. You can see the pictures from our scavenger hunt below! We are training to be C.S.I agents! Some of the training labs we have been working are; fingerprinting, types of fingerprints, types of prints, and lip prints. See some pictures of our training labs below. During the first week of class the students participated in an escape room. View pictures of the escape room below! *You will need to rejoin this remind, even if your child was in the first and second grade class last year!
In our last unit of the year, we have been learning about the rainforest. We started out by learning facts about the rainforest and reading, “The Great Kapok Tree.” We then learned about different types of questions, and the students posed their own questions about the rainforest. Next, the students were challenged to come up with their own projects to help save the rainforest. The pictures below are of the students creating their projects. |
