She told us about reading "Mummies in the Morning." She told the class how her diorama showed the mummy inside the burial chamber which was inside a pyramid.
We had an amazing turn out at the Grand Opening of our museum! We hope you were able to come and look at the wonderful displays the students created! A lot of learning took place in this unit! The first and second grade students researched some of our national symbols and created 3D models of them. Check out their amazing creations!
Here are some facts they learned in this unit: - The Statue of Liberty was brown. - Lilia - The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France. - Ben - The bison is the biggest large animal. - Emilie - The "Star Spangled Banner" was written by Francis Scott Key. - Julia - I learned that the Statue of Liberty is 151 feet tall. - McKenzie - You can go in the Statue of Liberty's head. - Jaxon - The bald eagle was made our national bird in 1782. - Caleb - More than 60 species of oak trees grow in the USA. - Joshua - The rose is our national flower. - Connor - The bald eagle is the main symbol on our Great Seal. - Jax The topic of our first unit was hidden inside of these break out boxes... were the students able to break out in time and figure out what our first unit is? We are learning about art and art history! The first thing we learned about was the 7 elements of art. We started by learning that there are primary colors and that you can mix them together to make secondary colors! Check out how we made our own color wheels using paint! |
